From January 1st 2013 Emirates will switch the EK203/EK204 Dubai – New York JFK rotation from Boeing 777-300ER to Airbus A380 operation. This will provide an extra 42 First Class, 238 Business Class and 665 Economy Class seats per week in each direction.
Airbus A380 A6-EDD operating EK17 Dubai – Manchester diverted to London Heathrow today having gone around from 2, 700 ft at Manchester. The go around was caused by emergency services attending Thomas Cook Airlines Boeing 767-31K G-TCCA. A6-EDD later continued London Heathrow – Manchester as EK17D and returned to Dubai as EK18 which operated just under four hours late.
Airbus A380 A6-EDB operated EK241 Dubai – Toronto today however the return EK242 has been delayed overnight owing to a technical issue with the aircraft.
Emirates Airbus A6-EDL returned to service today operating EK302 Dubai – Shanghai. The aircraft has been under maintenance at Dubai since 3rd April.
Emirates Airbus 380 A6-EDI returned to service today operating EK5 Dubai – London Heathrow. The aircraft has been under maintenance at Dubai since 21st March 2012.
Airbus A380-841 MSN093, Thai Airways HS-TUB, made its first flight from Toulouse today wearing test registration F-WWAN and positioned to Finkenwerder for cabin fit out.
Emirates Airbus A380 A6-EDD operating EK241 Dubai – Toronto made a missed approach at Toronto due to high winds and diverted to Ottowa. The aircraft is reported to have made a Mayday call due to low fuel but this was subsequently cancelled. The flight was able to continue to Toronto shortly afterwards using callsign EK241A.
