Airbus A380-861 MSN116, Emirates A6-EEG, operating EK202 New York JFK – Dubai (depart New York JFK 25th October) diverted to Kuwait this afternoon due to crew needing to shut down the #4 engine whilst over the Atlantic. The decision was taken to continue to Kuwait on three engines in to rendezvous with another aircraft sent from Dubai. The increased fuel consumption due to the increased drag of the non operating engine meant the aircraft did not have the range to reach Dubai.
