QANTAS Sydney – London Heathrow Service to Return to Singapore Stopover.

QANTAS today announced that the QF1/QF2 Sydney – London Heathrow service will amend its stopover from Dubai to Singapore from 25th March 2018. The Sydney – Singapore sectors will replace the current QF5/QF6 Sydney – Singapore A330 service. QANTAS will retain codeshares on Emirates services between Australian ports and Dubai and beyond Dubai across the Emirates network to Europe but there will no longer be any QANTAS operated services to Dubai.

Airbus A380-842 MSN 242, Emirates A6-EUY was delivered Finkenwerder Dubai this evening using callsign UAE5GT. The aircraft is in 58J/557Y configuration. This brings the Emirates A380 fleet up to 97 aircraft.

Following the technical issue it encountered yesterday, Airbus A380-861 MSN187, Emirates A6-EOM, departed Sydney late this morning operating yesterday’s delayed EK415 Sydney – Dubai as EK415D.

Malaysia Airlines A380 9M-MND Returns from London Heathrow.

Following the technical issue it encountered on 26th August 2017,Airbus A380-841 MSN089, Malaysia Airlines 9M-MND, departed London Heathrow late this afternoon operating the delayed MH1 London Heathrow – Kuala Lumpur of 26th August as MH1D.

Emirates A380 A6-EOM Sydney Technical Issue.

Airbus A380-861 MSN187, Emirates A6-EOM, overnighted at Sydney after arriving as EK414 from Dubai yesterday, however it was unable to operate EK415 Sydney – Dubai early this morning due to a technical issue. The flight has been delayed overnight.

Emirates A380 A6-EEN Returns from Mauritius.

Following the technical issue it encountered on 25th August, Airbus A380-861 MSN135, Emirates A6-EEN, positioned Mauritius – Dubai as EK2606 early this morning.  The aircraft then entered the Dubai maintenance facility.

Airbus A380-861 MSN139, Emirates A6-EER, operated EK701 Dubai – Mauritius this morning, however instead of turning around to operate EK702 Mauritius – Dubai, instead following the A380 technical issue and flight switches at Mauritius yesterday, the aircraft operated yesterday’s delayed EK704 Mauritius – Dubai as EK704D.

Airbus A380-861 MSN207, Emirates A6-EOW operated EK703 Dubai – Mauritius this morning, then following the earlier A380 technical issue at Mauritius the aircraft turned around to operate EK702 Mauritius – Dubai instead of EK704 Mauritius – Dubai as scheduled. EK704 has been delayed overnight.

QANTAS Announce A380 Reconfiguration.

QANTAS today announced an upgrade programme for the A380 fleet which will see the aircraft reconfigured from the current 14F/64J/35W/371Y to 14F/70J/60W/341Y. First Class will be refurbished and will remain at the front of the lower deck. Business Class will switch from the current Skybed Mk2 to the Business Class Suites featured on the A330 and B787 fleets. Premium Economy will be upgraded to the product to be introduced on the B787 and Economy will be updated with new seat cushions and upgraded IFE. The expanded Premium Economy cabin will see removal of the Upper Deck Economy Class sections, and the front of the Upper Deck will see a larger lounge area for First/Business Class passengers. The programme will commence in the second quarter of 2019.

Following the technical issue it encountered yesterday, Airbus A380-841 MSN179, Asiana Airlines HL7634, departed New York JFK in the early hours of this morning operating yesterday’s delayed OZ221 New York JFK – Seoul Incheon.

Emirates A380 A6-EDB Melbourne Technical Issue.

Airbus A380-861 MSN013, Emirates A6-EDB, arrived into Melbourne this morning as EK406 from Dubai (depart Dubai 23rd August), however the onward sector to Auckland was cancelled due to a technical issue. As a result EK407 Auckland – Melbourne sector was also cancelled, however the aircraft was able to return to service late at night operating the delayed EK407 Melbourne – Dubai sector.

Airbus A380-842 MSN014, QANTAS VH-OQA, arrived into Dubai early this morning as QF9 from Melbourne (depart Melbourne 22nd August), however due to the delay to the previous day’s QF9 service, the onward sector to London Heathrow operated using callsign QF9D.

Following the technical issue it encountered yesterday, Airbus A380-842 MSN047, QANTAS VH-OQG departed Dubai in the early hours of this morning operating yesterday’s delayed QF9 Dubai – London Heathrow sector. The aircraft immediately turned around to operate yesterday’s delayed QF2 London Heathrow – Dubai – Sydney.

Airbus A380-861 MSN117, Air France F-HPJJ, operated AF54 Paris CDG – Washington with a wo hour delay this evening. The return AF55 was cancelled and the aircraft instead operated back to Paris CDG as AF4083.

Qatar Airways A380 A7-APH QR908 Doha Technical Return.

Airbus A380-861 MSN197, Qatar Airways A7-APH, operating QR908 Doha – Sydney initially stopped the climb at 6,000ft this evening due to a technical issue, then entered a hold to dump fuel eventually climbing to 15,000ft before returning to Doha for a safe landing.

Airbus A380-841 MSN078, Malaysia Airlines 9M-MNA, which spent yesterday out of service at Medina, operated a Medina – Kuala Lumpur religious pilgrimage sector early this morning as MH8057.

Following its overnight delay, Airbus A380-841 MSN072, Lufthansa D-AIMI, departed Hong Kong this afternoon operating yesterday’s delayed LH797 Hong Kong – Frankfurt as LH797D.
